New Delhi: India has identified a new sort of virus in persons who have previously been infected with COVID-19, as the globe awaits the new and rising Delta Plus coronavirus variant.
The Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi has documented five occurrences of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) among Covid patients, according to a formal report from the hospital.
According to a release from Ganga Ram Hospital, “This is the first record from India of five cases of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) linked rectal hemorrhage in Covid immunocompetent patients.”
When the human body is resistant to the fatal coronavirus and the drugs used to protect it against COVID-19, a new type of virus enters the human body.
Patients’ immune is suppressed by the steroids used to treat coronavirus, leaving them prone to rare illnesses.
CMV virus is an example of an infectious agent. Asymptomatic cytomegalovirus is found in 80 to 90% of Indians. The statement read, “Clinical presentation with symptoms secondary to CMV is frequently found in patients whose immunity is weak.”
All of the instances have been discovered so far in Delhi-NCR. Four patients suffered gastrointestinal bleeds, which resulted in blood in their stool, and the fifth patient had an intestinal blockage. “Two of them suffered large bleeds, one of which need emergency lifesaving surgery to remove the right part of the colon, and one of whom died owing to massive bleeding and severe Covid chest disease,” according to the report.
According to Anil Arora, professor at Ganga Ram Hospital, three patients were treated with ganciclovir antiviral medication.
