29 Naxalites including Naxalite commander, Shankarrao, Lalita killed in Kanker, Chhattisgarh

On April 16, a massive encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. In which a large number of Naxalites including Lalita and Shankar Rao were killed. Of these, 29 bodies have been recovered. Also a large quantity of AK 47, LMG, carbines, rifles and guns were recovered. The security forces also killed top Naxal commander Shankar Rao and Lalita in this encounter. There was a reward of Rs 25 lakh each on them.


According to the police, the encounter took place on Tuesday (April 16) at around 2 pm between the Border Security Force and a joint team of police and Maoists in the forest of Hapatola between Binagunda and Coronar under Chhotabetiya police station area of district Kanker. Three soldiers have also been injured. His condition is out of danger.

A huge quantity of weapons, including 9 rifles and 5 light machine guns, have been found at the encounter site. This year, in the campaign against Naxalites, security forces have killed 85 Naxalites in separate encounters in Kanker and other seven districts of Bastar division. It is to be noted, 13 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district. Whereas on March 27, six Naxalites were killed.
