Satlok Ashram management committee has issued a clarification regarding reports of an alleged assault involving a 13–14-year-old boy at the ashram premises.
According to the press note, a dispute reportedly arose between the minor and a young man over the placement of a mattress. The ashram said the young man allegedly assaulted the child, while the child’s father was present and intervened. The matter was reportedly brought to the attention of the Child Welfare Committee, following which police registered an FIR against the youth under the POCSO Act based on a complaint.
The notice states that during the investigation, the boy and his father were taken for medical examination. The child reportedly told authorities that nothing improper had happened to him and alleged that an unidentified person had tried to influence him.
The ashram further stated that a CFSL team inspected the site and that CCTV footage did not show the reported incident. It also claimed that the allegation was an attempt to defame the ashram.
The management committee has urged media organisations and social media users to verify information with police and other authorised sources before publishing or sharing reports involving minors.
