In Nepal mother of one month baby died due to Covid-19, infant is under care of administration

Kapilvastu, Nepal: The Vijayanagar Rural Municipality has taken the responsibility of taking care of a one-month-old newborn with the necessary nutrition for six months.

Rural municipality ward no. 1 Chairman Gopal Bahadur Thapa informed that he has taken the responsibility of taking care of Govinda Chaudhary, one-month-old son of Hanuman Nagar resident Punsiram Chaudhary.

Chairman Thapa on Sunday provided NRs 20,000 in cash and two protein milk, pumps, baby powder, baby oil, soap, mask, sanitary and other items needed immediately.

He said that the municipality had taken care of the child for six months after Thapa himself reached Chaudhary’s house. At present, the newborn baby is being taken care of by Savita Tharu, elder sister of the deceased, said Chairman Thapa.

Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality, Govinda Bhattarai, said that the health branch would provide the child with the necessary nutritious food and medical treatment for six months.

At present, the child is being kept under the direct supervision of volunteers Shobha Thapa and Uma Thapa, said Bhattarai.

The deceased family has been identified as Mr. Punsiram Chaudhary, with 1 daughter, and 1 son. It is said that the family situation is normal and dependent on farming.

The 25-year-old woman was sent to Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal for treatment after her corona was confirmed positive during an antigen test. Yagya Prasad Adhikari, chief of the rural municipality health branch, informed that she died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Taulihawa Hospital.

The official said that the report was negative while testing the antigens of everyone who came in contact with the deceased including the newborn baby.
