Kapilvastu, Nepal: Gautam Buddha Division Forest Office Kapilvastu has planted trees on the occasion of World Environment Day 2078 BS. According to Gautam Buddha, the day was celebrated by planting trees with the main objective of “restoring the natural system of new thinking and creation”.
Division One planted 81 different species of plants on the roadside of Ghat Gaddi area on Saturday, said Durga Bahadur Karki, head of Division Office, Kapilvastu Gautam Buddha.
Stating that there is a need to make the environment green by planting trees in the vacant land to keep the environment balanced, Karki informed that clean environment trees have been planted on the occasion of Environment Day.
According to Chief Karki, human intervention and exploitation of nature have led to natural disasters such as floods and landslides in the face of deforestation and desertification. He said that deforestation was causing problems such as drought.
Chief Karki also said that tree planting would help in maintaining the balance of the environment at a time when the environment is deteriorating.
The Division Forest Office has produced 319,000 different species of plants this year to maintain environmental balance and conserve the forest.
Assistant Forest Officer Ejaz Ansari said that a nursery has been set up for fruit plants to be planted around the house, plants to be beautified in the office premises and plants to be planted in the open area.
He also said that the distribution of plants will start from the first week of July and will be made easily available to the public.
Stating that indoor plants have also been produced for the offices, Ansari informed that plants including pots/vessels will be distributed to government offices and media houses.
