Started on Saturday from the auspicious Ghatasthapa in Hindu across the country Nepal Dashain is started. It’s also called “Vada Dashain” has been started with smiles and joys. Jamara has been sowed in every Hindu home. The deities are worshiped with determination from Shree Ganesh to Goddess Durga up to nine days.
Dashain is not only festival of Nepal but it’s a media to connect the relatives. The happiness started from Ghatasthapa where Ghatasthapana consists of two words “Ghata” and “Sthapana” where Ghata means vessel and Sthapana means Initiation. Traditional Diyo is lit in the name of Shree Ganesh and started with next level of joy.
All the relatives get together and have their better time to share their feelings. Some married or unmarried women keep fasting for their entire happiness in the family. They show huge determination towards goddess Durga and keep fast till nine days without tasting pinch of salt. Their devotion is very deep.
At the ninth day, younger girls below 12 years are welcomed and worshiped as an incarnation of goddess Durga and have special Yagya. At the end of the day the fasting completed and they started eating all kind of regular foods. At the tenth day Jamara is putted with red Tika (mixture of rice seeds, whey and auspicious grass) in forehead. Younger’s are graced by the elders and given surprises gifts. Some gives money as love and younger touched the feet to get the blessing.
Dashain ends after the fifteenth day of Ghatasthapa. The end day is called Kojagrat purnima. But this year due to carnage of Coranavirus, the government of Nepal has restricted for mass gathering. People are only allowed to celebrate at their own house without visiting to the relatives.
