Kapilvastu: A two-day training on the goat value chain has been completed at Kapilvastu’s Shivaraj-1, Shivpur. According to the organizers, the training was conducted on Saturday under the auspices of KIRDARC Nepal, Strome Foundation and Bankasbasa Goat Breeding Management Committee, and Shivraj Animal Husbandry Branch.
Addressing the training, Dhaneshwar Khanal, Chief of Animal Husbandry Branch, Shivaraj Municipality, said that it would be clean to eat frozen meat. Stating that it is not effective to eat freshly cut meat, he said that farmers need to be self-sufficient by raising goats commercially. Khanal said that the training would help them to earn money by using modern equipment and local resources instead of traditional methods. He said that the price of goats reared by the farmers should be decided by the farmers themselves.
Similarly, KIRDARC Nepal District Coordinator Krishna Bahadur Rawal said that the program would be effective for the farmers and added that they would continue to work with the community in the coming days. Urging the trainers to put into practice what they have learned in the training, Rawal said that it is necessary for the farmers themselves determine the value of the livestock.
Mr. Bahadur Bhandari, Program Officer of KIRDARC Nepal, Mr. Lekhnath Gharti, Hotel Entrepreneur, Mr. Madhav Prasad Acharya, and Mr. Hemraj Giri addressed the program. Also, 20 farmers from Shivaraj and Buddhabhumi municipalities participated.
