Nepal: Kalika Swavalamban Social Center Kapilvastu has launched the Strengthening of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Campaign (Samsara) project in three districts of Lumbini Province. The project has been started for 30 months in West Nawalparasi, Rupandehi and Kapilvastu districts.

Project Coordinator Abhinav Chaudhary said this at a three-day media workshop on sexual and reproductive health rights organized in Lumbini by Kalika Swavalamban Social Center Kapilvastu and with the financial support of Amplify Change.
On the occasion, Project Coordinator Chaudhary said that the project will work strategically in the areas of creating an environment for the implementation of the Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Act, empowerment of stakeholders, advocacy for a youth-friendly environment, issue-based campaigns, advocacy workshops, media campaigns and strengthening health institutions. He said that he will take initiatives for issue-focused policy reforms in coordination with the media sector.
Similarly, Kalika Executive Director Ramendra Singh Rawal said that the project will be implemented to eliminate gender-based violence and increase access to health services for youth and adolescents. Rawal said that in collaboration with the media sector, the government at all three levels will be consulted for policy implementation and need-based amendments to address sexual and reproductive health issues.
Kalika President Mandeep Singh said that his organization has been working in a wide range of areas. Stating that the workshop is expected to play a role in raising reproductive health issues and issues in the three districts, he informed that the organization has worked to make quality education, health, livelihood and civic education a matter of concern for citizens.

Similarly, the workshop was facilitated by JC Specialist (Gender Expert) and journalist Rima BC, Advocate Gomati Sunar (Dipa). On the occasion, the media persons were briefed on sexual and reproductive health education, the provisions of the Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Act 2075, the status and challenges of the implementation of the act, gender-based violence, child marriage, adolescent and youth-friendly services, safe delivery services, pregnancy testing, legal provisions on abortion, dowry, polygamy, issues of reproductive health rights and ways to address them, and the role that the media sector should play in raising issues related to reproductive health rights.
At the program, Kapilvastu Coordinator of the project Anil Gharti, Nawalparasi Coordinator Tilkumari Shrestha (Tilu) gave information about the program of the project, while Kalika Program Coordinator Nishant Kunwar gave information about the overall program of the organization. The Strengthening of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Adolescents (Samsara) project has been launched in 33 municipalities of all three districts. 15 media persons and journalists from Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu participated in the workshop.
