The number of people who lost their lives due to road accidents in West Nawalparasi is increasing. District Police Office Nawalparasi has informed that there were 190 vehicle accidents in the 9 months of the current financial year, while 25 people lost their lives in vehicle accidents in the last 9 months.
DSP and Information Officer of the District Police Office Bhojraj Pandey informed that 19 men were killed, 4 women and 2 children. Most of the vehicles involved in accidents are motorcycles/scooters. According to the police, 137 accidents were caused by motor cycle/scooter vehicles alone. Similarly, 13 from bus, 12 from jeep car, 8 from truck, 7 from tripper and tractor, 6 from tampo, 3 from micro bus and 9 other vehicles involved in the accident.
Information officer Pandey said that the main reasons for the accidents are drunkenness and the use of drugs, while speeding, the current condition of the road, unsafe driving, and driving without a license are causing more accidents. In the seventh month of the financial year, 28 vehicles were involved in serious accidents.
Similarly, 18 in the month of Bhadra, 22 in Asoj, 37 in Kartik, 15 in November, 20 in Paush, 18 in January, 18 in Falgun, 15 in Chaitra, and 190 vehicular accidents occurred in the period of 9 months and the highest number of vehicle accidents occurred in the month of Kartik, according to the District Police Office.
