Nepal: The ninth general assembly and the fifth convention of Diyalo Nepal Shivaraj Kapilvastu have been concluded. The working committee has stated that Tara Thapa has been re-elected as the chairperson of the convention held at Shivaraj-5, Chandrauta on Friday. Jyoti Pun has been elected as the Vice President, Anjana Adhikari as the Secretary, Birmaya Sunar as the Joint Secretary, and Indravati Chaudhary as the Treasurer. Similarly, Sanju Rai, Sarada Kumari Padel, and Sharmila Dharel were unanimously elected as members, said chairperson Tara Thapa.

Presenting the progress report of the organization at the assembly of Diyalo Nepal, Secretary Sumitra Adhikari said that Diyalo Nepal is an organization of human rights activists working in the field of rights and tired of the discrimination of gender discrimination. Secretary Adhikari said that the organization has been conducting various creative programs to end violence against women, organizing women, and empowering women. It is also mentioned in the report that the organization had a turnover of Rs. 1.5 million in the last fiscal year 077-078.

Meanwhile, Lumbini Province Assembly member Arjun KC lauded Diyalo Nepal for playing a leading role in social activities in the Chandrauta area. He said that Nepal has operated an ambulance for the benefit of not only Chandrauta but also all the communities around Shivraj. Member KC said that the community has been very active in raising awareness on trafficking in girls, violence against women, and education. Saying that the organization has given various pieces of training in the field of learning, have the trained people achieved skills. He urged the people to monitor the use of what they have learned in their daily life.

Similarly, Netra Raj Adhikari, Chief of Shivraj Municipality, while speaking at the convention, said that women in the wards where Diyalo Nepal conducted the program could speak openly on the issue of empowerment and expressed his best wishes on the occasion. Addressing the program, Shiv Kumari Tharu, Deputy Chief of Shivaraj Nagar, said that she has worked for the development of women and adolescents in the area by coordinating with the locals at all levels.

Mina Pariyar, the founding chairperson of Diyalo Nepal, recalled that the organization has been brought here for a long time. She said that there is still a lot of work to be done in the community and Diyalo has played an important role in raising the voice of the common people. Expressing best wishes to the newly elected office bearers, Chairperson Pariyar also extended best wishes on the occasion of the upcoming Hindu Women’s Festival Haritalika Teej.

Representing all the wards, Ward Chairman of Shivraj Municipality Ward No. 2 Ram Bahadur Chaudhary, Mr. Bhandari of KIRDARC Nepal, and Chairman of Human Rights Foundation Kapilvastu Bishnu Prasad Khatiwada addressed the program.
