Shivraj, Nepal: Training to make Dhaka (National Cap) and velvet shoes have been completed in Shivaraj Municipality-9, Kapilvastu Nepal. According to the organizers, the training was organized with the financial support of Ward No. 9, management of Dayalo Nepal and Shivgadhi Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Network.
Ward Chairperson Chur Bahadur Khadka, while addressing the concluding program, said that skills should be linked with economic gain. As it is not possible to build an egalitarian society without skills, the ward has allocated Rs one lakh for the training and said that skills are needed to make single and poor women self-reliant.
Ward Chairperson Khadka said that the training would be justified only if the skills and knowledge could be put into practice and stressed on the need to make the skills professional.
Meanwhile, Dilmaya Batha, chairperson of the network, expressed her commitment to take the lead of society and move forward by professionalizing the skills she has learned. Stating that many programs of SIP have been put forward but the results have not been forthcoming, she stressed the need to promote SIP collectively.
It is said that 13 single and poor women of the ward have participated in the training program conducted from Jestha 28 to Asar 6 under the ward level annual program of the current fiscal year 077-78 BS.
The program was chaired by Dilmaya Batha, President of Shivgadhi Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Network, Ward chairperson of 9th ward Chur Bahadur Khadka was the chief guest and women’s rights activist Mina Pariyar was also present.
