The shooting of Daunte Wright was a “accidental discharge,” as the officer had planned to use a taser

Brooklyn: Brooklyn Police Chief Tim Gannon has called for the shooting of a black man, 20-year-old Daunte Wright, by an “accidental release.”

During a press conference on Monday he said he believed the officer was trying to remove the tile when Daunte Wright was shot.

He also added that officers are trained to handle a gun on one side of their forearm and a taser on the other.

A police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright at Minneapolis Street was on leave. Police arrested Wright for violating traffic laws.

Since the shooting, swarms of protesters have gathered outside the Brooklyn Police Department, where anti-riot police officers lined up to defend themselves and released gas canisters in an attempt to disperse people, according to reporters at the scene.
