Nepal: With the onset of the cold wave in the Terai for the past few days, people’s lives have started to be affected by the cold. The Kapilvastu Partnership Forest Management Committee of the district has started distributing free firewood to the locals for heating the fire.
The Kapilvastu Partnership Forest Management Committee has stated that firewood has been distributed in places including Maharajganj Bazaar, Gaidhawa Chowk, Samiti Chowk of Chandrauta, Kharendrapur, Thunhiya, Manpur, and Chanai Badegaon.
Chairman of the committee Gangesh Nath Tiwari informed that firewood has been distributed in more than 3 dozen places including various local bodies, ward office and health offices of Kapilvastu. He said that more than 2 quintals of firewood are being distributed in each of the distributed places.
Ejaz Ansari, Assistant Forest Officer of Kapilvastu Partnership Forest Management Committee, said that firewood was distributed free of cost for the elderly and senior citizens, and young children. Stating that firewood is being arranged to heat fire even in the poorest settlements, official Ansari said that firewood is being distributed at necessary places to provide fire heating for the senior citizens to avoid the cold.
