Kathmandu: India issued a travel advisory to its citizens on Friday, cautioning them against visiting Iran or Israel due to the escalating hostilities between the two West Asian nations.
Due to the current situation in the region, all Indians are asked to postpone any travel plans to Iran or Israel until further notice.
We are requesting that everyone who presently resides in Israel or Iran familiarise themselves with the Indian embassies there. According to a statement from the ministry of external affairs, they are also asked to minimise their trip and take the strictest safety precautions.
A few weeks after a group of Indian labourers went to Israel as part of a government-to-government agreement, the Indian government released a travel advisory.
“As you are awake, these (first batch) individuals were flown to Israel as part of a government-to-government accord that we signed with the country,” Jaiswal said in a prior briefing. “The truce has nothing to do with the disagreement. We are concerned for their safety. We have requested that the Israeli authorities ensure their safety and well-being.”
This threat comes in response to Tehran’s claims that an airstrike on its embassy in Syria resulted in the deaths of key Iranian military officers by Israel. Since then, tensions between the two countries have steadily increased, and there have been reports that Israel is preparing for potential military action from Iran soon.
The US and France, among other countries, have issued similar travel advisories for the region.
India has expressed concern about the speed at which the political circumstance in West Asia is deteriorating.On April 1, 2024, Iranian diplomatic facilities in Syria were attacked. This has drawn concern. India is worried about the potential for further instability and violence caused by the escalating tensions in West Asia.
Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs, said during last week’s news briefing: “We urge all parties to avoid actions that go against generally recognised rules and standards of Global Law.”
