Kapilvastu: Free eye camps have been started in two municipalities of Kapilvastu. In Shivaraj and Buddhabhumi municipalities, eye examinations of 126 patients have revealed 23 cataract point.
Weekly eye treatment service has been started in Shivaraj and Buddhabhumi Municipality with the financial support of Buddhabhumi Municipality and technical assistance of Nepal Eye Jyoti Sangh Chhand (Kale Babu) Narayani Eye Hospital.
Under the eye check-up camp program conducted from Saturday, 39 eye patients have received services in Shivaraj and 87 in Buddhibhumi. Out of which, cataracts have appeared in 10 out of 10 cases in Shivaraj and 13 in Buddhabhumi.
It is said that medicines are also distributed in the camp along with free trials. Patients with cataracts found in the camp have been referred to Chhand (Kale Babu) Narayani Eye Hospital, Bahadurganj for free surgery services by the Eye Hospital. It is informed by Dr. Upendra Chand a program coordinator.
Addressing the free eye camp program, Chief of the Municipality Keshav Kumar Shrestha has urged the city dwellers to come for treatment. Shrestha said that the municipality has also made arrangements for free operation after conducting an eye examination.
Similarly, Shivraj Municipality Chief Netra Raj Adhikari said that the eye camp was conducted with the objective of providing services to the poor, Dalit, and vulnerable families of the town.
Anil Poudel, chief administrative officer of the municipality, said that the need to go to big cities for expensive eye treatment has been solved. The people of the city are happy after the municipality has arranged free eye check-ups in the office premises of the municipality every Saturday.
