In Delhi, a cleric was booked for raping a minor girl inside the mosque

New Delhi: A 48-year-old cleric was detained by Delhi Police on Monday for reportedly rapping a 12-year-old girl inside a mosque in northeast Delhi.

The preacher, who is from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, was apprehended in Ghaziabad’s Loni district on Monday morning.

“The accused was charged with rape under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act,” police added.

According to authorities, the clergyman was also brought before a city court, where he was sentenced to 14 days in judicial custody. According to police, the accused lives in Ghaziabad’s Loni, is wedded, and has 4 kids.

According to authorities, the event occurred on Sunday evening when the 12-year-old girl went to the mosque to obtain water.

After she came home, the girl told her parents about her incident. The girl’s parents submitted a report with the police on Sunday night, and a case was opened. The cleric was accused of rape.

The girl’s parents said in their accusation that their daughter had gone to the mosque to draw water when she was reportedly assaulted by the priest, according to PTI.

The girl was counseled and sent for a medical evaluation after the event, according to authorities.

According to police, officers were stationed outside the mosque as furious people gathered to oppose.
