Shivraj, Nepal: Every parent wants a bright future for their children. Due to some financial and other reasons, that desire and dream is lost. Similarly, it is the responsibility of every parent to provide nutritious food to every child.
But in most rural areas it does not apply because there are various economic and social problems affecting the parents directly or indirectly.
As a result, the students drop out of school and so-called future children are deprived of nutritious food and clothing. Nutritious food is very important for the physical, mental and emotional development of children.
The Helping Hands Campaign has been running in Kapilvastu’s Shivaraj Municipality from the past three years. Campaigner Deepak Khadka informed that the campaign has been distributing warm clothes to the students of poor families from the past few days.
Therefore, a one-day nutritious lunch and picnic program has started on Sunday with the students of Saraswati Basic School Shivpur jointly organized by Janak Hamal, Director of Laxmi Traders and Milk Dairy in Chandrauta and Tikaram Adhikari (Nirjan), Coordinator of Late Dadhiram Adhikari Memorial Foundation.
School principal Sitaram Chaudhary said that the students were fed with nutrious food and pickles at the lunch.
Shiv Kumari Tharu, Deputy Chief of Shivaraj Municipality, while addressing the nutritious lunch program, lauded the campaign.
She said that she had to face several challenges including lunch when the school became chaotic due to Covid-19.
Thanking the organizers for conducting the campaign even in such a complex situation, Tharu said that children need nutritious food in every way for physical and mental growth.
She also said that the campaign would be fully meaningful in places where there is no interest in parents.
Deputy Chief Tharu also claimed that providing different nutritious meals to every student who went to school without lunch for one day would further help in the emotional development of the children.
Meanwhile, Mahadev Pokharell, president of the Trade Association Kapilvastu, said that the campaign was launched with a very good idea. He said that the future of the students would be bright with a nutritious meal.
Pokharel also said, one day’s lunch may not change much, but every child’s parent understand to provide a nutritious meal to the student with a positive mindset.
The program was attended by Chhand Bahadur G.C, Chairperson of the School Management Committee, Shiv Kumari Tharu Deputy Chief of Shivraj Municipality, Mahadev Pokharel Chairperson of Kapilvastu Trade Association, Indu Tharu Community Facilitator of KIRDARC Nepal and Storm Foundation and Amar Budha Magar Chairperson of Shivpur Toll Development Association.
