Nepal: An awareness program has been organized in Shivaraj Municipality of Kapilvastu to reduce violence against women. According to Krishnanagar, the training was conducted among the people’s representatives, children, and mothers’ groups with the help of the project and the establishment of the house.
An awareness program has been organized in Bisunpur, Ward No. 8 of the municipality on Tuesday to reduce sexual violence against women, children, and adolescents as well as human trafficking and smuggling.
Basanti GC, District Coordinator of Peace Rehabilitation Center, Kapilvastu, said that they are working day and night to reduce violence against women under various pretexts. Stating that human trafficking activities are on the rise due to the open border between Nepal and India, she said that everyone needs to be vigilant. She even urged them not to trust strangers. According to GC, the organization has been working tirelessly against violence, human trafficking, and smuggling.
Similarly, Nisha Gahatraj of Peace Rehabilitation Center had imparted training in the presence of 40 locals on various topics including where and how human traffickers deceive women and children, show them temptations and sell them in other countries.
Meanwhile, Ward Chairman Shankar Ahir said that everyone should raise their voice against humanitarian violence, sexual abuse, and trafficking. He also requested to inform the concerned bodies as soon as he finds out that such illegal activities are taking place. The program was addressed by Sushila Khanal, Consultant of Peace Rehabilitation Home, Supervisor Sirjana Gautam, and others.
