Nepal: Residents of Shivraj Municipality-1, Chorkhola of Kapilvastu are forced to live a dark life. They were forced to because the concerned authorities ignored it.
Chorkhola settlement, which is located near the east-west Mahendra highway, about 15 km from the main market of the district, Bhalubang, the capital of Lumbini province, has been facing local problems due to lack of electricity.
In the absence of clean drinking water and mobile network along with electricity, common citizens are forced to drink contaminated water.”Management of electric lights etc. should be done by the local government, but they are unaware of this matter.”
Keshab Sunar said that along with the problem of living in darkness and drinking contaminated water, there is also a lack of medical treatment. He said that the failure of the mobile network has increased the frustration of Chorkhola residents towards the local government. He said that he had to go far for medical treatment and said that he had to climb a tree to reach the mobile phone tower.
Locals complain that Chorkhola habitants has not received a hearing even after complaining to the relevant authorities for electricity. MB said that the sufferings of the residents of CHorkhola were ignored even after informing the Krishnanagar Electricity Regulatory Office several times. On Friday, a team including him demanded for electricity connection at that place as soon as possible. He said that if the work of power transmission is not started within a week, there will be a pressure program.
Stating that only weeding work has been done since last year, he alleged that although the grass was weeded a few months ago, the rest of the work has not been speeded up. Even though it was reported that the contract was awarded to Gairi Construction 2 months ago for the work of electrical transmission connection, the local leader MB Sunar says.
On the other hand, Shivraj Municipality Chief Ajay Thapa said that the problem of electricity, drinking water and mobile network will be solved as soon as possible. He claimed that it is becoming more complicated because the settlement investment is more expensive.
According to Electricity Authority Distribution Center Krishnanagar, the connection process is now progressing quickly. It has also been reported that because minimum settlement requires a lot of investment, it is difficult to connect electricity there. According to Gauri Construction Pvt. Ltd., which has been entrusted with the contract, the work will start immediately if the connection material arrives at the Electricity Authority.
