Kathmandu, Nepal: Following violent confrontations in Pakistan this week, France has urged French individuals and companies to immediately flee the country due to severe warnings to French affairs there, according to a diplomatic report on Thursday.
Earlier this week, thousands of Pakistani Islamists staged protests in defiance of their leader’s detention, which came outside of protests condemning French satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.
Depictions of the Prophet are considered blasphemous by Muslims.
A notification was sent overnight to French people and companies, according to the diplomatic channel, following a threat by a hard – line Islamist movement to attack French concerns.
