Cooperatives should be linked with income generation: MP KC

Nepal: Arjun KC, a member of the Lumbini State Assembly, said that cooperatives should not only be financial transactions but should be linked to income generation. He said this while addressing the 11th general meeting and 6th session of Bigul Savings and Loan Cooperative Society in Shivraj Municipal Ward No-3, Madwa on Saturday.

KC suggested implementing educational programs to make the members self-reliant. He said that cooperatives, which are easily disbursing loans by depositing small amounts, should now focus on social activities.

Meanwhile, Teklal Sapkota, Chairman of Shivraj Municipality Ward No. 3, said that Bugul Cooperative is one of the strongest cooperatives within the ward. He said that the ward and city will support if the cooperative takes up any new campaign. Mahadev Pokharel, president of the Chamber of Commerce Kapilvastu, said that the citizens of Shivraj 3 should create pocket areas by rearing goats and buffaloes.

Similarly, Bhim Prasad Khanal has been elected as the president of the cooperative, according to the cooperative. The 11th General Assembly and the 6th Session unanimously elected Khanal.

Similarly, Kopila Neupane has been selected as the vice president, Deviram Pandey as the secretary, Vishnu Prasad Bhusal as the joint secretary, and Shankar Malla as the treasurer. Kamalraj Giri Rishiram Khanal, Renu Thapa, Goma Poudel, Nar Bahadur Poudel, Prakash Vick and Leela Kumari Narabhat have been selected as the coordinators of the drafting committee.

The president of the organization Nar Bahadur Paudel, vice president Kopila Neupane, joint secretary Jibalal Bhusal and others addressed the program saying that the cooperative, which has been contributing significantly to economic and social transformation, should put more emphasis on production in the future.
