Kapilvastu, Nepal: A one-day on-site training on vegetable farming and use of home-made pesticides has been completed at Kapilvastu’s Shivaraj-5, Chandrauta.
It is said that the farmers who have been cultivating vegetables at home have been given training on the use of pesticides.
Addressing a training program organized by the Agriculture Development Branch of Shivraj Municipality on Tuesday, Ward Chairman of Shivraj Municipality-5 Arjun Bahadur Pandey said that the vegetables produced with the use of hard labor are organic.
He said that some people have been cultivating vegetables commercially but did not know how to use pesticides.
Stating that most of them have health problems due to not knowing how to use pesticides, Pandey said that the training would be effective in the community.
He said that vegetables grown in one’s own home are good for health and also save money and time.
Agriculture Development Branch Officer Tara Chandra Chaudhary said that the general public should make good use of the services provided by the government and expressed confidence that the training would empower the farmers who have been cultivating vegetables.
If everyone is able to produce clean vegetables and use pesticides in their own fields, they will no longer have to go to the market carrying plastic bags, said Chaudhary.
The program was chaired by Gyani Ram Sapkota and conducted by Shanti Maya Adhikari with the participation of 27 members of Himapat Agriculture Cooperative.
