Nepal: It has been found that children are being used in a brick factory in Kapilvastu. Dozens of children have been employed in child labor at the Shiva Brick Industry located at Khadaicha, Ward No. 6, Vijayanagar of the district. Most of the child laborers employed by industry by operator Sandeep Maurya are in the age group of 8 to 15 years. Children make 1,000 bricks and get Rs. 1000. A worker said that the contractor used to pay Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,300.
It is understood that the operator Maurya has been using children in child labor saying that they can make bricks with less money and it will be more profitable for the industry. But it has come to light that dozens of children in the industry have been beaten by Maurya. Although dozens of children were employed in child labor in the brick industry, operator Maurya insisted that he did not employ children in child labor. One of the workers in the industry, who did not want to be named, complained that the wages had not been increased due to the destruction of bricks by the Corona epidemic and unseasonal rains.
After receiving complaints about the use of children in the industry, the operator, who was visiting the industry on Friday, threatened to kill the journalist by using abusive language in a grandfatherly manner and throwing him in a brick kiln. He said, “If you need money, I will give you money”.
Mahtab (Pappu) Khan, who was with Maurya, the industrialist, threatened to break his arms and legs, saying, “You don’t know me well. According to a source, Khan has been working illegally in India as well. According to sources, Khan is also said to be involved in criminal activities in India. At present, they have been living in hiding in Krishnanagar, a border area of Nepal.
Even though the government has enacted a law against child labor or any other illegal activity, the industry has been using child labor for profit. Thus the operator is a character used in child labor. Due to unseasonal rains, brick traders have been facing losses recently.
