Sarawal, Nepal: Children’s lives are in turmoil due to the global spread of the Coronavirus. Millions of children in Nepal have been addicted to the bad habits due to carnage of virus since March 24th lockdown.
Similarly, most of the children in Sarawal village municipality of West Nawalparasi, Nepal are addicted. Various unions and schools have been closed since the past. Various children are addicted to bad habits as the school is closed. They have gone to all the distilleries and liquor shops in the village and consumed drugs like alcohol, smoking, chewing tobacco etc.
In Sarawal Rural municipality ward no. 6, most of the children have dropped out of school and become victims of bad company. Of which, there are about 22 small liquor distilleries in Ward No. 6. Children are also more addicted due to the negligence of parents. Some children have been found using drugs under the pretext of going to school.
Even though the school is open now, the children are not going to school and are trapped in the wrong company of the people, using drugs like smoking, marijuana, alcohol, tobacco etc.
Kailash Yadav, chairman of Ward No. 6, said that the main reason for the children’s addiction and drug abuse was the neglect of their parents hence they used to go to distilleries and liquor shops in the ward with their friends. Although the parents sent the children to school, they did not care whether the children went to school or not and also said that they were drinking cold liquor in the company of bad people.
